a crazy day
it's a date that has been burned in my mind ever since i began thinking about doing the triathlon here in Red Lake.
I had completely mixed feelings about it.
it's something that i wanted to do, but was absolutely dreading it at the same time.
there is just something about putting yourself out there for the world to judge!
Fear of man...o how often it dictates my actions!
it goes by a nicer name when it comes to sports...performance anxiety
it is so easy for me to care more about what others think of me than to care what God thinks of me
in a way, this race was for me, just as much a spiritual battle as it was a physical battle
by choosing to do this race, by putting myself out there for others to see and perhaps even judge, i was choosing to trust in God's view of me, no matter the outcome
"my identity will be in the Lord, in the One who formed me, in the One who gave me every gift and talent that i posses"
and praise Jesus i finished the race!
and i give Him all the praise
He gave me health
He gave me strength
He gave me the support that i needed
August 19 was a good day :)
and believe it or not, i actually thoroughly enjoyed the race!
wasn't really expecting that...lol
it was especially fun to have my family here to cheer me and on
and to have a friend, my brother, and my sister do part of the race with me!
I signed up for the sprint triathlon
750 meter swim
20 km bike
5 km run
my brother, sister, and friend did the same thing as a team
Diana swam
Christian biked
Rebecca ran
Bec and i before the race
putting on my swim cap
tentative but as ready as i was going to get!
Christian fuelling up w/ a donut before his ride
and we were off!!!
the water was freezing...absolutely freezing!
drying off my feet after swimming before i put on my shoes for biking
Christian taking off on his bike
Rebecca finishing her run putting Team ClinePine in 2nd place!!!
yeah Team ClinePine!!!
home stretch for me!
crossing the finish line :) :) :) :)
me and my lil' running buddy :)
and to top everything off, Bump and i made the paper :)
(also note Team ClinePine's amazing time on the left!)
Isaiah 51:7-8 + 12-16
“Hear me, you who know what is right,
you people who have taken my instruction to heart:
Do not fear the reproach of mere mortals
or be terrified by their insults.
For the moth will eat them up like a garment;
the worm will devour them like wool.
But my righteousness will last forever,
my salvation through all generations.”

“I, even I, am he who comforts you.
Who are you that you fear mere mortals,
human beings who are but grass,
that you forget the Lord your Maker,
who stretches out the heavens
and who lays the foundations of the earth,
that you live in constant terror every day
because of the wrath of the oppressor,
who is bent on destruction?
For where is the wrath of the oppressor?
The cowering prisoners will soon be set free;
they will not die in their dungeon,
nor will they lack bread.
For I am the Lord your God,
who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar —
the Lord Almighty is his name.
I have put my words in your mouth
and covered you with the shadow of my hand —
I who set the heavens in place,
who laid the foundations of the earth,
and who say to Zion, ‘You are my people. ’”
